Want homeschooling to be delightful?

Then YOU need to be full of delight.

You want a strong relationship with your kids, but sometimes they’re pills. Truth is, sometimes you are, too.

You long for joy in the journey.

You want your kids to leave your home with good memories and funny stories.

You want connections not only between subjects, but also between you and your children.

You are hunting for the missing piece that will bring it all together and make it all feel not so hard.

Yeah. That atmosphere of joy and delight?

It’s YOU.

Learning is serious business, but it shouldn’t make us serious kill-joys.

When we shed the burden of proving ourselves or worrying about our performance, we’re able to actually enjoy life and our kids – and experience true scholé.

You are not just a mom.

You are not just a teacher.

You are the mood and tone of your home.

You are the atmosphere.

This sounds like a lot of pressure, but the truth is that real learning – scholé – teaches us to lighten up. When we find we are the chief of the kill-joys in the home, the answer isn’t to double-down on guilt but to lighten up with gratitude. When we become educated as we educate, we realize we aren’t going to be the world’s answer or even our children’s savior. Thus, we’re free from a crippling yoke; free to laugh and be a friend and co-learner alongside our children.

We are the Scholé Sisters.

And, like you, we homeschool our kids — for better and for worse. We all have struggled feeling like our abilities did not match up to our vocation as a homeschool mom. We have hard and rough days that include yelling, huffy comments, and messy houses. We can cry about that (and sometimes we do). Or, we can laugh. We think we should choose laughter more often.

Homeschooling well can be an overwhelming and lonely task. We will give you practical help to make it less overwhelming and connect you with sisters who can relate to what you are going through.

Laughing Well

A Scholé Sisters Online Retreat

September 21, 2019 – 9am-3pm Pacific time

Homeschool conferences can be exhausting and overwhelming. A retreat will build your skills and feed your soul. Plus, we’ll do our best to make you laugh. After all, laughter is the best medicine.

Ideal for new and experienced moms from all homeschooling methods, the Laughing Well Retreat will help you:

  • Discover delight in the day-to-day real life of homeschooling.
  • Troubleshoot your sources of frustration and irritation that steal your joy.
  • Recognize that peace and joy comes from trust in Christ.
  • See how the gospel applies to our homeschool lifestyle and brings us joy.
  • Embrace homeschooling as intense character training for ourselves.
  • Find ways to add laughter with your kids, husband, and friends.

A joyful heart is good medicine,

but a crushed spirit dries up bones.

Featuring special guest Cindy Rollins

Cindy Rollins is the 2016 winner of the Russell Kirk Paideia Prize and the author of Mere Motherhood: Morning Time, Nursey Rhymes, and My Journey Toward Sanctification. She was a homeschooling mom of 9 (8 boys and 1 girl) after being drawn towards homeschooling by hearing Raymond Moore in his original Focus on the Family Broadcast in the early 1980s. Although her days of homeschooling her own children are over, she continues to educate as a private tutor. For over 10 years, she blogged through her efforts to homeschool under the classical principles of Charlotte Mason. Her heart’s desire is to encourage moms, with a special concern for those raising sons.

Got Questions? Find answers.

What happens after I check out?

You’ll be added to the list of registrants and receive a welcome email within the hour that includes access to the Retreat page.

The Retreat page will have all the information and links you need to participate. As the event is live, it will be updated with clear steps for where to be and what to do next.

What if I can’t make the live event?

You will receive a link within 4 days to the replays of all the live events. You’ll have lifetime access to the replays and all retreat materials.

Can I watch with friends?

Of course! We encourage it, even. Learning is better in community. If your group is 5 or fewer people or does not involve extra expenses (like a venue fee or food costs), just have each person register here separately. Registration will be open through the day of the event, then we’ll take it down for a couple months before re-releasing it as a recorded event. That whole time participants will have access to the replays.

If your group is larger, and you want to hold it like an event, click here for the logistical details – we tried to make it easy for you!

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes! If you’re putting together a 6+ person event, click here to find out about how to get group pricing at $20/person.

Will the event be live all day?

The first session will begin at 9:00am Pacific, 12:00pm Eastern, and the last session will end at 3pm Pacific, 6pm Eastern. In that time, we’ll do 4 sessions plus a Q&A with a break between each one. (A sound check for leaders will be at 8:30am Pacific, 11:30am Eastern.)

But during the breaks there will be an opportunity to join in live chats if you don’t have a local group, too.

What if I’m not a mom, or not homeschooling, but still want to be a lifelong learner? Can I still attend?

Definitely! Our examples might be about kids – but it all applies to persons, whatever the age.
